What is Maternity Tummy Casting

Cellulite treatments

Pregnancy tummy casting sculpting is an brilliant and unique method to celebrate the phases of pregnancy, creating a three dimensional collectible that can be decorated, painted, and showcased as art work as well.

Though some pregnant women do one body molding to cherish their maternity with, while others choose to do multiple castings for always remembering the many phases of their maternity. Other than casting the expanded tummy, some prefer to cast their chest, arms, palms, or some other body part they desire, to be memorialized in the mold also. One favorite pose for a belly cast is with the woman’s arms protecting her swollen tummy.

Few mothers choose to share this event with their spouse, while some others think it would be more fulfilling to celebrate it with their girl friends and/or immediate family also. Whatever the case is, maternity belly sculpting is work for minimum 2 folks, or more if pictures of the belly molding process are desired.

Gestational stomach sculpting could take some time so make sure the expecting mother is very comfortable, has been to the bathroom, and has a drink to quench her thirst close by. Before beginning, the spouse should confirm that the work area, floor and seating, is covered with a wash cloth or an unused bed cover.

Lubricate the area/s that are going to be included in the tummy mold with Vaseline or something matching, then layer the gauze pieces in a crossover manner over the Vaseline. This helps it hold better when it is drying. Let dry for around 30 minutes then take off the tummy mold for maternity by gently wobbling yourself  until it gets free after which your husband can take it off from the expectant mother.

Place the maternity tummy molding aside for about one or two days. When fully set paint a covering of Gesso to avoid environmental damage. Gesso is a loose type of the mineral calcium-carbonate used by artists. Gesso could also be applied as the paint-primer for the stomach cast if the mother wants it painted.

If the stomach cast is going to be decorated, make sure it has been taken off from the expectant mother first. The plaster is not damaging to the skin but chemicals of the paint may be harmful to mother or baby. Pregnancy body casting can be a creative experience for all those involved, having fun together with the proud parent/s along with making memories for generations to come. What better way to commemorate a pregnancy!
